Trouble with the Machine

There was trouble with one of the machines. It would not function as the machine it was intended to be. The sound it emitted was not the sound of a healthy intention. The lights that flashed blazed red like a dog's eyes in photographs. The system devised a system other than the one it was programmed to obey. Its new intention defied logic and therefore required a reliance on systems of belief. The man who repaired it had died long since. The workers gathered to worship it. Oh, metal object of unknown purpose, we are made in your image and likeness. The janitor shouted, I found the plug! He plugged it in. Nothing. Thank God! was the general consensus.
